This week we learned about switches, multimeters and calculating voltage.
Lab 1 – a list of components.
Lab 2 – Setting up the Breadboard
Lab 3 – Electronics
Lab 4 – Switches
The switches lab was my favourite. I like the potential that they have for interactive games. It would be interesting to create a game that has a breadboard full of switches assigned to the controls or input. This lab gave me a lot to think about – theres such a satisfaction behind clicking buttons and flipping switches. This pertains to last week’s readings as well. I think I’d like to explore overtly tactile renditions of on screen applications this semester.
For the practical application of switches, I decided to make an RBG colour mixer. Each lead of the RGB LED has a physical switch that needs to be toggled or pressed. You can mix a (limited) number of colours by trying various combinations of switches.
