The element of the article that has stuck with me the most are the discussions regarding the possibilities of creating mycelium systems that can interface with electronic components. I’ve never thought about using sensor to tap into the detailed info that root networks can perceive.
I wonder what this kind of engagement would do to the fertile nature of that system, particularly because of the results that usually occur when electronics leech toxins into the soil.
For my final project I’d like to the explore metaphorical ways in which mycelium can be used to act as an allegory for a futuristic depiction of black history. I’d like to determine ways to train my strain to consume cotton and think about how this could be presented as a narrative for a rewrite of the Transatlantic slave system.
