This week we made sketches around the topic of pixels and sound. I made a sketch that divides the song Happy by Pharrell into the low, medium and high frequencies. It then associates each level to three varieties of brightness on the screen. The levels effect the size of the diameter of the pixels in that brightness category. Then I associated a part of that rgb colour to the frequency level as well. I added a slider that changed the rate of the song and two radio buttons that switched the pixels from circles to squares.
I really enjoyed this exercise this week. I was inspired by an exhibition I saw last year at the MoMA that featured a wall of shapes that would change based on the sounds in the room. I can’t seem to find any online references to the show!
