DESCRIPTION
#000000 is for Afroterrestrials – black technologists of the digital diaspora who fall outside the margins of the majority and code within the system to inspire societal self-reflection, equality and ethical tech while imagining the empowered future for people of colour.
The zine features international work by a collective of afrofuturists who also identify as coders, new media artists, storytellers, writers, electronic artists, experience designers and activists.
The issues we’re compiling for the NYTZF includes AR and VR projects, code, poetry, illustrations, instruction manuals, interactive art, photography and interviews with inspiring tech creatives. It’s as multifaceted as the culture and as niche as their professions.
It is our hope and expectation that this tech festival will strive to be different, emboldening unrepresented voices to present their experiences on equal grounds. After all, that’s the only way we make change.
